Home Builders Association Sponsors HFHI 25th Anniversary House

To commemorate Habitat for Humanity International's (HFHI) 25th Anniversary, the Home Builders Association of Saginaw (HBAS) sponsored a three-day blitz build of a house at 3141 State Street in Saginaw. Construction of the three-bedroom house concluded in November 2004.

This is the second Habitat house built by the HBAS in two years. Last year, over 100 HBAS member businesses and volunteers built a house almost entirely with in-kind gifts-donated materials and labor, far exceeding the minimum $25,000 pledge.

Tom Bailey, of Bailey Construction, is project director for the build. "This program is a great opportunity for us to continue our commitment to Building Pride in the Community." said Bailey.

John Perna, Executive Director of Saginaw Habitat for Humanity noted, "The Home Builders Association is a key partner with Habitat. Saginaw has never seen a three-day build, but if anyone can do it, they (HBAS) can."

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness. HFHI has built over 100,000 houses in its 25-year history. Saginaw Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 75 houses since its founding in 1987. Donations are tax-deductible.
